What are the benefits of working as a contractor? We asked our contractors on social media to complete a short survey highlighting their views and opinions of the current contracting market. The results were shaped by contractors who work in a variety of different sectors including Education, Sales, Retail, Construction & IT Consulting, which provided us with some compelling results.

What's the main benefit of contracting?

"5 years ago a friend recommended me for a role, it was contracting and I was nervous of not having permanent job security, that was then and I have not looked back since. The flexibility it offers is superb and I have experienced roles that would not have been possible any other way."

Do you earn more as a contractor vs being an employee?

"Contracting offers freedom of choice, a better work / life balance plus I get to work on various projects without being involved in Company politics."

Would you recommend contracting to a friend?

"I was tired of the constant threat of redundancy. Contracting allows me to work for different clients on specific projects needing my skills."

Do you currently have a contract?

"After 10 years of 12 hour day and night shifts, I wanted the same flexibility with holidays. Only contract work could help me achieve this."

Will Brexit affect your opportunities as a contractor?

We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone that participated in our survey. We have also chosen one lucky person at random to win a brand new Fitbit Inspire. Congratulations to June Denovan!
