In June, PayStream were awarded yet another accolade and were presented with the Best Accountancy Firm 2019 prize at the annual Recruitment International Awards ceremony in London.  This was further evidence of our reputation within the industry, and that our business continues to deliver exceptional service levels in a very competitive market.

The need to engage with experts within the payroll industry has never been higher for recruitment agencies, and I have the utmost confidence that we are best placed to help support both contractors and recruitment professionals moving into what will be an interesting 8 or 9 months.

On July 11th the draft legislation was released for off-payroll rules and it confirmed that it will be extended to the private sector and will come into effect from April 2020.  At Paystream, we are heavily committed to ensuring that our long list of recruitment partners have the smoothest of transitions to accommodate any such change, and due to this we have recently launched our brand new online portal ‘IR35 Comply’ which will assist in making these complex issues just that little bit easier.

Along with this, we have created various guides and consultant training material to work with recruitment agencies and help break down the myths and jargon, creating a more helpful understanding of IR35 and the proposed changes coming in.

Due to the demand, we have also recently created a brand new Business Development department, headed up by Ashley Olliver.  The need to have a dedicated team to work with new partners was overwhelming, and due to this small internal change we are now able to offer greater attention to both our current recruitment partners and those that are looking to create or enhance their various PSL or ASL relationships.

PayStream has never had so many award winning, innovative services available to the contractor market, and although I always appreciate the fact that we have some very good competitors I am proud to share that we are leading by example and giving everyone something to think about.

Last week’s publication of the draft Finance Bill 2019-20 confirmed that off-payroll working in the private sector will come in from April 2020.

Despite many and varied representations the Government has stuck to its belief that bringing the freelance contractor into the PAYE system is the right thing to do as far as the scope of fair and equitable taxation is concerned. It has steadfastly refused to acknowledge the true value of a flexible workforce even in the face of all the economic uncertainties which the country is facing.
