Liam Lewis joined PayStream’s Customer Care team 7 years ago as a Customer Care Advisor. Since then, he’s has worked across multiple departments, improving his industry knowledge at each step of the way. We wanted to find out a little more about Liam and his PayStream journey.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what brought you to PayStream?

I previously worked in the retail sector but was looking for a full time role that I could develop in further. A friend of mine worked at PayStream and recommended that I join. That was 7 years ago and I have not looked back.

2. What is a typical day at PayStream like?

I wouldn’t say there is a typical day as such. I work within our IR35 team in our legal department, so I spend much of the day assisting our contractors and clients with all things relating to the off-payroll working legislation. I do also spend a significant amount of time analysing our services to improve our offerings as well as investing in training and development of the team to ensure we offer the best service possible.

3. How does PayStream compare to your previous workplaces?

By far the biggest difference are the people you work with. Everyone at PayStream is very approachable and go above and beyond to help each other achieve. PayStream do invest a lot in their employees to ensure everyone achieves their full potential. I have personally wanted to develop my skills in various areas and PayStream assisted me in becoming highly trained and specialised in those fields. In the last 7 years I have been a Customer Care Advisor, Tax Assistant, Tax Advisory Senior and now as I mentioned above, an IR35 Expert within our legal department.

4. What three words would you use to describe PayStream?

“Fantastic Working Environment”. The people you work with and how much you support each other make a huge impact on how you feel about an employer. PayStream have done an amazing job on building a fantastic internal culture.

5. What do you enjoy most about working at PayStream?

By far the atmosphere! Although every day is busy, because of the people I work with it doesn’t feel like work.

 6. What would people be surprised to learn about you?

As well as being married with children, our home is almost a zoo with 4 cats, 3 dogs, a African grey parrot, fish and a gecko.

7. What are your favourite things to do outside of work?

I enjoy the outdoors and love to take my boys camping. I also enjoy working on my custom off-roading Land Rover and taking it green laning whenever I get the chance.

Are you a PayStream Person?

We are really proud to say that Liam's PayStream success story is just one of many. That’s because we understand that our employees are our greatest asset so we put our people at the heart of everything we do.

When recruiting we look for like-minded individuals who will embrace the culture of the company, which is why we've developed a 'PayStream Person' which we believe encapsulates our star performers and therefore, in every new recruit we look for the following qualities: bright, personable, adaptable and a strong work ethic.
