Gary originally joined PayStream’s Management Accounts Team back in 2019 and hasn’t looked back since. He’s continued to develop and expand the responsibilities of his role, even describing himself as a ‘jack of all trades’. He provides assistance to not only agencies and contractors, but also internal departments within the company. Gary has firmly established himself as an integral part of the PayStream team. We wanted to find out a little more about him and his PayStream journey.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what brought you to PayStream?

I’m originally from Scotland but I moved to Manchester many years ago, probably before the majority of PayStream staff were even born! I joined PayStream as Credit Controller in 2019 with 30 years credit control experience under my belt.

2. What is a typical day at PayStream like?

It sounds cliché but every day is different within the Management Accounts team. With daily, weekly and monthly jobs, my role has plenty of variety. From approving advance requests for our contractors to assisting our Agency Support team with onboarding new agencies, there’s always plenty to do.

3. How does PayStream compare to your previous workplaces?

PayStream is very relaxed and friendly, even though everyone is busy. There’s also the opportunity to progress here at PayStream with my role in Management accounts being the perfect example. It’s much more than a Credit Controller role now.

4. What three words would you use to describe PayStream?

Great Leadership Team. Does that count as three words? The senior management team really makes PayStream what it is and the culture they have created is great to be a part of.

5. What do you enjoy most about working at PayStream?

No doubt this has been said many times before, but it has to be the people!

6. What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I used to travel the world watching my beloved Scotland and on one trip to Amsterdam my pals and I were interviewed and photographed by a National tabloid! The best part of the story is the fact that we were sat in a giant clog in Dam Square. We even made it into the paper the very next day, but unfortunately the mighty Scotland lost… 6-0.

7. What are your favourite things to do outside of work?

My favourite thing to do outside of work is watching the best team in Glasgow (they wear green and white by the way)! When I’m not engrossed in football, I’m also a big music lover and you’ll find me planning which gigs are next on my list.

I’m also a keen runner and have entered several 10K’s and even a Half Marathon!

Are you a PayStream Person?
