Environment, Social and Governance

We’re committed to operating with transparency and sustainability, because we care for people and the planet. Our approach to ESG reflects our long-standing belief that doing the right thing is good for business, our team, our clients, and the wider community.

What ESG means and why it matters

Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) refers to the way organisations manage their responsibilities to the planet, people, and ethical business practices. At PayStream, we see ESG as a shared commitment that drives better decision-making and future-proofs our business.

We embed ESG into how we work every day, focusing on:

  • Reducing our environmental impact.

  • Creating an inclusive, supportive workplace.

  • Upholding strong governance, compliance, and ethics.

It’s not just about meeting expectations, it’s about leading by example and being part of creating a better future.

Meet the team leading our ESG efforts

Our ESG vision is shaped and supported by leaders across PayStream who bring experience, compassion, and accountability to every initiative.

We have representation from across the business because together, they help ensure our ESG efforts are rooted in real action, not just words.

Our environmental focus: reducing our carbon footprint

We’re proud to have partnered with Positive Planet to develop a clear and actionable Carbon Reduction Plan. This plan sets ambitious, science-based targets that align with international climate goals.

Our carbon reduction commitments:

Near-term goals (by 2030):

  • Reduce scope 1 emissions by 42%.

  • Reduce scope 2 market-based emissions to zero.

  • Reduce scope 3 emissions by 42%.

Long-term goals (by 2045):

  • Reduce total market-based emissions (scope 1, 2, and 3) by at least 90%.

  • Neutralise any remaining emissions with certified, verified carbon offsets.

We believe transparency is key, which is why we’re openly tracking progress and continually reviewing new ways to reduce our environmental impact across operations, partnerships, and supply chains.

Our social impact: people first, always

We know that the strength of PayStream lies in our people. That’s why we work hard to create a culture where every team member feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow.

We have been recognised by Great Place to Work under the Best Workplaces (Large) category as well as under the categories: Best Workplaces for Women and Best Workplaces for Development

Our people regularly organise fundraising activities, awareness campaigns, and volunteering opportunities, turning passion into impact, inside and outside the workplace.

Here’s how we support our people and wider communities:

Employee wellbeing

From mental health support to flexible working and career development, we invest in a healthy and balanced workplace.

Diversity and inclusion

We strive for a workplace that reflects the world around us, where everyone has equal opportunity to thrive.

Community giving

We proudly support staff-led charity initiatives, offering time, resources, and matched funding to causes our teams care about most.

Built on strong governance

We believe good governance is the foundation of everything we do. Our policies and practices are built around accountability, legal compliance, ethical business conduct, and transparent reporting.

This includes:
•    Rigorous risk management and audit processes.
•    Clear codes of conduct and ethics for all employees.
•    Ongoing ESG training and awareness at every level of the business.
