Small business supported via HMRC webinars

HM Revenue and Custom's (HMRC) has shown its support to small businesses by hosting four live tax webinars free of charge. 'Small Business Saturday' is an event that has been set up in or to aid and encourage others to support small companies in the UK, by giving businesses an opportunity to promote themselves.

The webinar will launch on the Saturday 7th December and will run between 10am to 5pm, lasting for approximately an hour.

So what can we expect from each of the four webinars;

Self-employment and HMRC.

This covers key topics on what you need to know when being self-employed as a sole trader or in a partnership, covering key essentials such as registration, National Insurance, Self-Assessment and record keeping. Running from 10am-11am.

Company Directors - your responsibilities to HMRC.

This session is targeted as businesses contemplating setting themselves up as limited companies, covering key areas of incorporation and registration with Companies House and HMRC. The webinar details a timetable for corporation tax payments and what happens when companies become employers. Running from 12pm-1pm.

Business expenses for the self-employed.

The webinar provides a holistic view of the most common expenses, which allows self-employed individuals to understand what expenses they are able to claim tax relief on. Running from 2pm-3pm.

VAT Awareness

VAT costs and the high costs of VAT penalties, if businesses fail to register themselves on time, can be a daunting task. This topic covers how and when new businesses need to register and defines in simplistic terms how VAT operates. Running from 4pm-5pm.
