A reminder that if you have been sent a Notice to Make a Tax Return for the 2015/16 tax year by
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) you need to do so by 31 January 2017. The deadline for filing a paper Tax Return passed on 31 October and you can only file your Return electronically now. If you miss the filing deadline, even by a day, HMRC will automatically apply a £100 penalty.

Remember too that you need to make payment of any tax you may owe for the 2015/16 tax year by the same 31 January 2017 deadline. If you have to make payments on account of your 2016/17 tax liability, the first of those two payments needs to be made by the same deadline.

If you miss the filing deadline, even by a day, HMRC will automatically apply a £100 penalty.
