Umbrella company potential contracts

The government has released details of new contracts to be procured.

It hopes that businesses of all sizes will be encouraged to bid on these public contracts.

This is part of a plan to make public sector opportunities more transparent.

Cabinet Office minister Chloe Smith said that: "This encourages suppliers of all sizes, and especially smaller suppliers, to think innovatively about how they could deliver effective government services, and promotes highly competitive bids that provide maximum value for taxpayer money."

Details of the contracts available for bidding can be found through the website Contract Finder.

Increased transparency on the contracts available could make procurement easier for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Alongside access to finance, SMEs say that procuring government contracts is one of their main barriers to growth.

But being able to outline a better bid for a government contract could give them the better edge on large corporations that is so sought after.
