Umbrella service contractors could be looking to Edinburgh for work, as new research shows the Scottish capital is seeing the fastest rise in temporary staff billings.

According to the latest Bank of Scotland Report on Jobs, the number of candidates placed in both permanent and temporary positions rose last month.

Overall it paints a healthier picture of the Scottish labour market, with the number of candidates, jobs and salaries all rising.

The strongest increase in permanent placements was in Dundee, while Edinburgh witnessed the fastest rise in temporary billings.

Donald MacRae from the Bank of Scotland says: "This latest barometer reading suggests the Scottish economy is continuing a slow recovery from recession rather than lapsing back into recession."
