IT workers are just as productive and committed to an organisation's goals whether they are permanent staff or contractors employed through an umbrella company.

A new study of IT contractors found that their attitudes show they are more than just mercenaries and are prepared to get fully behind the firm they are working for.

The IPro Index, which was conducted on behalf of Entity Solutions, reveals contractors hold their clients’ interests at heart and are determined to meet quality standards and timeframes.

Approximately two-thirds of those polled experience a sense of commitment to their current client.

Chief executive officer Matthew Franceschini, believes the survey debunks the myth that IT contractors are less committed to their work than permanent employees.

In fact, he says they are "just as, if not more dedicated, albeit for the duration of their contract".
