in the manufacturing supply chain may have seen a pick-up in the industry over the last three months.
New figures show that despite the tough economic outlook, orders and output growth grew in the three months to July 2012.
Of nearly 400 manufacturers that responded to the latest CBI quarterly survey, 29 per cent reported a rise in orders, slightly more than the 26 per cent that recorded a fall.
For output growth, 29 per cent witness a rise in volumes while 21 per cent saw a decline.
CBI head of economic analysis Anna Leach says that despite the problems in the eurozone, the manufacturing sector is showing resilience, with sentiment remaining stable.
She adds that "demand and production grew steadily in the three months to July, and this is expected to continue over the next three months".
