Limited company contractor opportunities up across UK

Limited company contractors based in Aberdeen, Liverpool and Sheffield had significantly more assignments available to them to apply for in March 2018 compared to the previous month, new data shows.

Statistics from online recruiter CV-Library show that the number of vacancies on offer in Aberdeen rose by 18.4 per cent over the course of the month, meaning there were plenty of opportunities for local contractors and freelancers to apply for.

With the average rate at which vacancies rose in the UK coming in at 7.6 per cent during the four-week period, Aberdeen was way out in front.

Meanwhile, Liverpool was the city with the second highest rate of jobs growth, coming in at 14.8 per cent between February and March, with the same rate also recorded in Sheffield.

In Glasgow, 12.3 per cent more contractor opportunities were on offer, Cardiff saw a vacancy increase of 11.2 per cent and job openings in Hull were up by 11 per cent.

Rounding off the top ten in seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth place respectively were Portsmouth (10.8 per cent), Bristol (10.5 per cent), Manchester (also 10.5 per cent) and London (9.1 per cent).

Commenting on the figures, Lee Biggins, Founder and Managing Director of CV-Library, said: "It's positive to see that businesses are continuing to drive their recruitment efforts this spring, following a strong start to the year.

"What's more, the increase in vacancies can be seen across a number of UK cities and industries, suggesting that business confidence is felt across the labour market nationwide."

In terms of sector, contractors working in education benefited from the biggest increase in opportunities, of 17.5 per cent, last month. This was followed by catering (17.1 per cent), retail (15.7 per cent), legal (13.6 per cent) and marketing, where vacancies rose by 11.3 per cent over the course of the month.
