From lunch breaks to set finish times: UK workers' 2018 goals revealed

What are your 2018 career goals? For more than two-thirds (69 per cent) of UK workers, their main professional desire for this year is to find a new role, while others are committing themselves to make small changes to their working day.

CV-Library has published new survey results revealing the new year's resolutions of the country's workforce, which shows that after finding a role that makes them happier, finding the time to exercise before or after work each day is a priority for 31.4 per cent of workers.

Meanwhile, 13.6 per cent want to make this the year that they turn their hobby into a sustainable career and 14 per cent are planning to make the effort to leave work on time each day.

Both of these goals can be achieved if workers opt to become personal service company contractors or freelancers, as this would allow them to fit their work commitments around their exercise goals, and they'd be able to choose their ideal finish time every day.

For 11.3 per cent of workers, their main aim this year is to educate themselves more and work towards a new qualification - something that limited company contractors should give serious thought to if they want to boost their appeal in the increasingly competitive market.

What's more, 8.5 per cent of those questioned said their goal for 2018 was to take a lunch break each day. Again, this is a resolution that contractors can easily achieve, as they have total control over prioritising their workload, meaning they can choose to take a break whenever they need to.

Overall, 91.5 per cent of survey respondents said they were confident they would stick to their new year's resolutions, showing that motivation and inspiration are currently running high.

Lee Biggins, Founder and Managing Director of CV-Library, commented: "January is the perfect time to set yourself career goals, as you return to work after the festive season and get ready for the year ahead.

"These resolutions can be the motivation you need to take the next exciting step in your career, so if you haven't thought about yours yet, there is still plenty of time to set yourself resolutions for 2018."
