8% increase in Jobs in the North West

Venn Groups most recent Contract Recruitment Index has revealed an 8% increase in jobs month-on-month in the North West.

Vacancies now stand at 2,566 compared to December's 2,366. This surge in demand, which is usually unseen during this period, can be accredited to the boost in regional investment from Businesses making the move away from London.

Stan Murray Hession, Associate Director of Venn Group, stated "Manchester and Liverpool are now attracting talent away from London as young professionals look for alternative places to set up in the wake of the Capital's astronomical rises in rent and cost of living. Likewise, businesses are choosing to take advantage of the lower overheads offered by cities other than London."

In the wake of this surge in investment, contractors are reaping the benefits with an 11% increase in pay rates month-on-month. According to the Contract Recruitment Index, the rate increase for individuals obtaining new contractors in 2015 increased by 11%, with those in more senior contract roles in the North West now expecting an average of £257 per day.

With Government pledges of investment worth £56 million into the North West infrastructure, on projects such as the Metrolink, the outlook for contractors' in the North West looks set to remain positive into 2015.
