Although LinkedIn isn't perfect, there is no doubt that it is fast becoming the number one go to database for recruiters.

Here are the top 7 reasons why LinkedIn looks set to become the number one tool for recruiters.

1. Continually expanding member base

Unlike most other social media platforms, LinkedIn has a professional focus which has led to its increasing popularity. It has now become the norm for professionals to have a LinkedIn profile. One of its key pulls for individuals actively seeking new employment is that they can still have a profile without being suspected of looking for another job. For those that aren't actively seeking new employment, there is the added benefit that their profile will be continually visible to recruiters.

2. LinkedIn has a much higher proportion of passive to active members

For recruiters it is generally easier for them to find and communicate with individuals who are actively seeking new employment, also known as active members, rather than passive individuals, who are not actively seeking new employment. LinkedIn provides the ideal platform to communicate with this passive audience. Therefore, if a recruiter needs to source candidates that are technically 'passive' they have the ability to communicate with these members much easier.

LinkedIn also provides an 'Apply with LinkedIn' button. So if a recruiter posts a job, they can utilise this button, making it effortless for a member to apply, hopefully increasing the volume of responses the recruiter gets.

This is a hugely beneficial tool for recruiters. Members can post recommendations onto connections profiles, this can include previous employers and fellow colleagues. For recruiters, this feature can remove the added hassle of chasing up recommendations to find out more information on a potential candidate.

LinkedIn's introduction feature also allows a candidate to introduce a recruiter to connect to one of their contacts, should they choose to.

With its easy to use qualities, its large member database and the ability to quickly compare a candidates skills set, even though it will still be some time before CV's are no longer used, there is no doubt that LinkedIn is having a big influence within the recruitment sector.
